ICICI Bank (आईसीआईसीआई बैंक) is a private bank which provides banking services in India. The bank has its headquarters in Mumbai and since it is a private bank, it is important to maintain a balance of Rs 10,000 in a regular saving account in urban branch.
In addition to this, if the minimum balance is not maintained then the bank penalizes you for the same. Steps to Close ICICI Bank Account
- The first step of the process is to withdraw all the money from the bank. You can do this online by visiting the net banking website and transfer balance from ICICI to any other bank account.
- After transferring all the money from the bank account, save a copy of your debit card, first and the last cheque in the checkbook, account number and customer ID with you.
- Now you would have to visit the nearest ICICI branch. After visiting the branch, obtain an account closure form or account closure form online.
- Fill the form and verify the details entered by you. You can leave out the details of balance amount as you have already withdrawn all the money from the bank.
- Now submit the form along with the checkbook, debit card, and an ID proof. You can retain your passbook with you after it has been canceled by the bank official. Do not forget to obtain the acknowledgment slip from the bank.
- Once that has been done, the account will then be closed within 10 working days.

Asthe long thread of complaints reflects and my experience too having my and my wife's Salary A/c besides otaddituonal products like 3 in 1 icici direct trading it is clearly evident that the icici bank group is short of money and no one at branch care resolve any problem as their Sal n survival seem based on on blocking n holding on to customer funds hence in the trail no one from icici even bother reply much less deny. To add having seen the global financial crisis GFC 2008 seems ICICI Bank n brands Lehmanb Bros moment round the corner and only practicing its staff doingvisxtele-calling or at branch providing words of platitude and Service Request Tkts while even Sr Mngmtvof supposed Regional Office/ Back End processing in accessible nor concerned Hence as most above complaining time to withdraw any if not all Bala in our accounts n run from bank leaving it woth a portfolio of zero or minus of charges penalties lien bal accounts

I've opened a salary account with 0 annual fees but they started charging Rs. 706.82 as annual maintenance fees in 2020 despite several reminders that it's a salary account. Very cheap. Cheated.

I am not in India. I want to close my salary account. I left the company and country. ICICI bank not closing my salary account. They changed it to a general account and keep charging MAB. I am not able to visit the branch due to this pandemic.
